Prayer Request for Seaville Member

David Romberger, a member of Seaville MM, will spend the next two years in Belize working with young people and adults, ultimately hoping to help start a new meeting.

David, who is a licensed Merchant Marine captain and experienced in the construction trades, hopes to provide vocational skills and opportunities in a nation where the family system is weak and public education usually ends in the 6th grade. He sees this as a chance “to witness in an appropriate manner for our Lord Jesus,” reports the November issue of Quaker Life.

He practiced law for eight years in the 1970s until he found the conflict between Christian discipleship and the expectations of the legal profession intolerable. He then returned to carpentry and construction work. In 1983 he and his family spent a year in Palestine, teaching at the Ramallah Friends Schools.

David and Friends United Meeting, which has the Belize project under its care, ask Friends in Salem Quarter to keep him in the Light and our prayers as he supports the existing Friends Boys School in Belize City and labors to establish the new Friends’ meeting there. Financial contributions to help underwrite the project would also be welcome, and may be directed to Friends United Meeting, 101 Quaker Hill Drive, Richmond, Ind. 47374.
