SUMMER
1999
attending: Cindy Cox Crispin (clerk), Barry Sloane (co-clerk), Jim Nordahl, Roshan Dinshah, Lois Dinshah, Sondra Ball, Mario Cavallini, Phil Anthony 11 April 1999
Woodbury MeetinghouseThe committee convened in worship at 1:05. Due to time pressures for some of us, we elected to conduct meeting while eating lunch. Minutes of our 10 January meeting were approved without correction.
Grant Reports
For the brochure grant, we still need to make the followup report (from each meeting: what was done with the brochures, what results have we seen from them). Cindy will prepare this report. Barry will give her Mickleton information; Cindy needs input from the other meetings.
For the Quarter Retreat grant, we are still gathering data for the report that was due last November (Sondra will get the data from Mickleton; Phil believes he has data from Woodbury and Woodstown; still needed are Salem and Mullica Hill). We also need to prepare the second report (feedback from monthly meeting clerks on how participation in the retreat has affected new members and attenders participation in monthly meeting). The report should also include how the money was spent. Phil is compiling the information for these reports, and will write them as one report. He needs input, either by mail or e-mail, but not by phone or verbally.
Largely because of our slowness in making these reports, we decided not to seek a similar retreat grant this year. Friends who need financial support to attend the retreat are encouraged to turn to their monthly meeting.
Woodbury Millenium Project
No new developments.
Rowan Outreach
George Crispin has distributed brochures on campus. No new developments on having a session or group there.
Videos and Faith & Practice to Area Libraries
Distribution of Faith & Practice awaits the next printing, which will include ISBN number and the word Quaker on the cover. Distribution of the videos awaits PYM Outreach Committee producing more copies. Apparently, production has been caught in finding an appropriate budget niche at PYM level. We have already budgeted money in the Salem Quarter budget for the videos. Barry will send a note to PYM Outreach, stating our interest in obtaining the videos.
Signs
Cindy will query the monthly meeting clerks about meetings interest in getting new signs. Once this information is collected, we will consider options to address whatever need emerges.
Outreach to Friends School Families
We might send another mailing to families of Friends School students, inviting them to attend our monthly meetings. This time around, we might send a copy of Salem Quarter News (estimated cost: $175). Another possibility would be to have copies of the News on hand at the Quarters table at the Friends School Fair in October.
Souper Bowl Followup
On behalf of the Quarter, Cindy will write a letter of thanks to Jeff Summerton for his efforts in promoting Quaker participation in the Souper Bowl Charity Challenge.
Next Outreach Article
Roshan agreed to write for the next issue of Salem Quarter News.
Next Monthly Meeting Events
Woodbury MM will host a Summer Fair (June 6th), a July 4th celebration, and participate in the towns Fall Parade. Mickleton MM will celebrate its meetinghouses 200th anniversary on August 15th. Any who would like to help or participate are invited to contact the meeting clerks.
Next Meeting
Due to an abundance of other activities, we will skip a summer meeting. Our next meeting will be 7 November, 1:00, at Woodbury MM. In the interest of keeping the meeting brief, this will not be a covered dish lunch; however, people are welcome to brown-bag.
