Salem Quarter
RETREAT
at the Burlington Meeting House

"You Will Definitely Be Closer To God When You Leave"

Balloons! Kickball! Potluck! and a Thrilling Performance by The Salem Quarter Kazoo Band!

This year's Salem Quarter Retreat will meet at PYM's conference center at the Burlington Meeting House from Friday after dinner through Sunday lunch.

The adult program will be led by Michael and Judy Van Hoy of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Michael, former head of the PYM Work Camp, and Judy, who drives the meanest golf cart in Yearly Meeting, were chosen to satisfy the Quarter's desire for a retreat that would have "spirituality — and fun." The children's program, for young people age 4 and up, will once again be led by Christie and Zach Duncan-Tessmer (and their new daughter, Moxie Kate) of Chestnut Hill MM. Our program includes intergenerational fun as well as time for the groups to work and play separately. There will also be plenty of room for conversation with old and new friends, reconnecting with our families, and just plain fun.

Cost? Only $30 per adult, $20 for those age 3 and up, no charge for infants and toddlers who won't need a separate bed — and an $80 cap per family. Meals will be provided Saturday morning through Sunday lunch. Saturday's dinner will be pot-luck — bring a dish (preferably cold) to share. The Meeting House has bunk beds in open rooms, and you'll need your own bedding and towels. For further information, call the Coordinator's office at (856)769-0066.

There's still time to register!

Schedule:
The Burlington Meeting House will be open for check-in after dinner, starting at 6:30 PM Friday evening. The program will start at 8:00 PM. Saturday and Sunday, yoga will be offered at 6:30 AM, followed by breakfast, and the program reconvening at 9:15. Program activities will be offered throughout the day, with optional program or free time during the afternoon and evening We'll finish up with lunch at noon Sunday, and expect our clean-up to be complete by 2:00 PM.
Participants will be divided up into small groups for work and worship sharing. We'll be responsible for our own food preparation and cleanup, as well as for general building cleanup Sunday. We hope the experience of work and worship with the same small group all weekend will help us get to know each other in ways no program ever could by itself!

What to bring:
The Burlington Meeting House provides bunk beds in open rooms on the two upper floors of the conference center. You'll have to provide your own single-bed sheets and pillows. There are showers, so remember soap, shampoo, and bath towels along with toilet articles. Bring along paper, pens, and pencils for journalling, books you might want to read in spare time, modest pajamas, flashlights, and comfortable clothes. Burlington Meeting House has a piano, but other musical instruments for group singing would be fun. And please bring a thing that has been important in your life, or a picture of it, to share with the group!

Directions:
Take I-295 to Exit 47 or the New Jersey Turnpike to Mount Holly. Turn onto Route 541 west to Burlington. When you reach Route 130 go straight across onto High Street. Follow High Street until it crosses Broad Street (the street with the train tracks). The meetinghouse is at 340 High Street, a red brick building behind a brick wall on the left. To unload, you can enter through the first gate in the brick wall; there's public parking (no charge) across the street after you have your luggage out. The meetinghouse is about 4.3 miles from the New Jersey Turnpike, or 2.7 miles from I-295.
