WINTER
1999 Sandra Boone
Woodbury MM
At last Junes Quarterly Meeting, a project was described in which people would hold a piece of cloth and charge it with feelings of peace, and then send it along to be made into a banner. The Quarter agreed this would be a worthy project ... and then the information link faded, and the trail became cold.
The Peace and Social Concerns Committee of Woodbury Monthly Meeting enlisted the services of their network snoop, Nora Iwanaga, to check out the resources. We are pleased to report that the trail is hot, and weve got the scoop. In an effort to be part of a solution, to live the reality of compassion and love, transforming the world of hatred and fear, we will participate in a special peace project. Individuals have pledged to:
- Find a piece of cloth that they enjoy and cut from it a piece 2×2 to 2×4 in size.
- Hold the cloth in their hands and feel what the new world of peace will be like, so that the cloth is charged with their feelings of peace.
- While holding the cloth, say the words, Peace prevails on earth, three times.
- Send the cloth, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, to:
Cloth of Many Colours Peace Project
50 East Main Street
Riverhead, N.Y. 11901The originators of the project hope to gather five million pieces of cloth charged with feelings of peace. (Five million represents one tenth of one per cent of the worlds population the number necessary to make change.) These pieces will be sewn together into a banner which volunteers will carry to encircle the United Nations Building as a powerful symbol of a world united in peace. The banner will then be turned into hundreds of peace shawls which will be shared with leaders of every country of the world during the year 2000.
Those of us at Woodbury Monthly Meeting will be collecting and sending pieces of peace on three dates November 14 and 28 and December 19. As we join others, please join with us as we work to change the world. May we hold James Twyman, author and peace troubadour, in the Light as he and his group travel the globe.
