WINTER
1999 Debi Seabrook
Woodstown MMSaturday, October 30, brought eight Friends to the Mullica Hill meetinghouse for an informal Religious Education Regional Gathering. Mullica Hill, Woodbury, Mickleton, and Woodstown Monthly Meetings were represented.
Discussion was facilitated by Marty Smith, PYM staff for the Religious Education Concerns Group.
Initially talk centered on our successes in First-day School classes. We then moved into identifying areas of concern, and ended with a brainstorming session on ways to meet these needs. Look for these ideas in the Nifty Ideas flyer sent with the Religious Education Newsletter from PYM. (And if you dont receive it already, call Marty 1(800)2200-PYM, ext. 7008 to be put on the mailing list.)
Marty also brought curricula for childrens First-day School classes. All of these are available through the Friends General Conference Bookstore, and are described in the FGC Bookstore catalogue.
A major benefit of the day was the joy of hearing that the religious education in our meetings is in such caring hands. And we thank Yearly Meeting for making its resources available to us through Friends like Marty Smith.
