WINTER
1999 Sandy Ridgway
Friends Home Board of ManagersSeasons Greetings from Friends Home at Woodstown!
With November coming to a close, Christmas decorating begins on the 29th. Residents really deck the halls, lounges, dining rooms, and recreation room, making the home quite festive for the holidays. Included in the decorating extravaganza are six trees, spread throughout the home.
Christmas is a very busy season here, with various community groups spreading good cheer. Brownies and Girl Scouts come to sing carols and visit, as well as several school groups. Numerous church groups come to sing carols and hymns, including Morning Star Baptist and Spencer UAME among others.
On Dec. 7, the residents have their annual Christmas Tea, which has been a long-standing tradition. This year, however, the tea will be sponsored by several area Girl Scout troops. They will serve drinks and cookies, visit with our residents, and sing.
Dec. 15th brings our annual Christmas dinner party. There will be a separate party in each of the three dining rooms. Each party will have a sumptuous meal, dessert, and entertainment.
Dec. 18th is the family Christmas party in the healthcare unit, complete with refreshments and entertainment.
The New Years Eve party will be held on Dec. 30th, as is customary here at the home. The festivities will include entertainment, hats, noisemakers, sparkling cider, and lots of good cheer!
Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
Friendly visitors Come in and chat with someone. Just one hour of your time can mean a lot to someone who is lonely.
Coffee Hour hostess substitutes We need a few people who would be willing to fill in at the last minute for a regular hostess who may be unable to attend for some reason.
If you are able to help, please call (856)769-1500 and ask for Ann in activities.
From our Home to yours, we would like to wish you all a joyous and blessed holiday season.
