Look for the Quarterly Meeting Calendar, sent every month to your Meeting's Steering Committee mem-bers, for listings of other events you may want to participate in. Or check Salem Quarter's Web site, www.pym.org/salem-qm/, where announcements are posted within a few days of the Coordinator's receiving them.


Sun, 28 May
Amnesty International. The Salem County chapter of Amnesty International meets in the Social Room of Woodstown MM at 7:00 PM on the last Sunday of each month.

Sat, 3 June
Woodstown Strawberry Festival. Woodstown MM’s annual Strawberry Festival supper has seatings at 4, 5, and 6 PM, plus takeout. Tickets: $10 and $5 for children under twelve. For information, contact the Salem Quarter Coordinator at (856)769-0066.

Sun, 4 June
Greenwich program. Betsy Balderston, PYM Coordinator for Aging Concerns, will speak on “Aging and Spirituality” at 10:30 AM at Greenwich MM’s upper meetinghouse.

Fri, 9 June
Salem Quarter Worship & Ministry. The Worship & Ministry Committee meets at the home of Bob and Gloria Horvay, Mullica Hill. For information, contact the Salem Quarter Coordinator at (856)769-0066.

How Do You Get There?

Lower Alloway’s Creek Meetinghouse is located on Buttonwood Avenue in Hancock’s Bridge. Take Route 658 south from Route 49 (Broadway) at the east end of Salem. Buttonwood is about four miles south of the intersection. Turn right. The meetinghouse will be on your right.

Salem Quarterly Meeting. Salem Quarter will gather at 9:30 AM at Lower Alloway’s Creek Meetinghouse for 10:00 program on the historic and present-day significance of the meetinghouse at Lower Alloway’s Creek. Worship at 11:00; lunch at 12:00 (brown-bag; bring your own beverage and dessert); Meeting for Business at 1:00 PM. Child care provided.

Tue, 13 June
Retreat Planning Committee. The Retreat Planning Committee will gather at Woodstown MM at 6:30 PM to discuss menu for the Salem Quarter Retreat. All are welcome, and pizza will be served; call the Coordinator at (856)769-0066 for the pizza order.

Wed, 14 June
Friends School Celebration. A community-wide event on the Friends School campus in Mullica Hill will honor John and Meg Harkins on John’s retirement as Head of School. For further information, call the school at (856)478-2908.

Thu, 15 June
Friends School Graduation. The eighth grade class at Friends School, Mullica Hill, will graduate in a ceremony starting at 7:00 PM. Call the school for information at (856)478-2908.

Sat, 24 June
Blue Rocks baseball. Woodstown MM sponsors a trip to see a Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball game. The game starts at 7:05 PM about half an hour from Woodstown; cost of tickets is $5. For information, contact the Salem Quarter Coordinator at (856)769-0066.

Sun, 25 June
Greenwich Open House. To mark the move to the lower meetinghouse for the summer, Greenwich MM hosts an open house in the afternoon.

Mon, 26 June – Fri, 4 Aug
Friends School Summer Camp. Friends School, Mullica Hill, will present six one-week summer camp sessions, including opportunity for swimming. Call the school for cost and other information at (856)478-2908.

Sat, 1 July – Sat, 8 Jul
Friends General Conference. Plenary sessions, interest groups, children’s programs, and 83 workshops are featured at FGC’s 100th anniversary Gathering at the University of Rochester River Campus, Rochester, N.Y., “Deep Roots: New Growth”. Fri, 11 Aug – Sun, 13 Aug
Salem Quarter Retreat. Seasoned Quaker program leader Chel Avery will facilitate Salem Quarter’s fourth annual retreat at the Burlington Meeting House. Our topic will be “Conflict: Opportunity for Spiritual Growth.” Adults $45, children $30, family cap $120. Further information from the Coordinator, (856)769-0066.
