FALL 2001
From Our Friends HomeMary Ellen Brooks
Director of Institutional Advancement
We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be much less because of that missing dropMother Teresa Ice Cream Social
Approximately 200 members of the Salem County extended community joined us for a few hours of fun on Saturday, June 9, 2001. Thanks to everyone who helped, Friends Homes first Annual Ice Cream Social was a resounding success!
When people arrived, they were greeted by the heart and soul of Friends Homeour residents, volunteers and employees. Volunteers wearing Friends Home tee shirts were everywhere! Our visitors now know us as real flesh-and-bone people working together to make life just a little bit easier for our residents and each other.
Coles Roberts old-fashioned steam engine made the best ice cream! Our thanks to Morrisons and the Dining Staff for all the delicious toppings and cookies. The lively music of the Banjo Dusters and the pure joy of being entertained and painted by Freckles and Daisy, our clowns, made this a very special event indeed.
Rays of Light and Friends Home Annual Gift Campaign for 2001
Soon you will receive a copy of our brand-new quarterly newsletter, Rays of Light. This first newsletter is dedicated to the people who made and continue to make Friends Home Friends Home. Please take a few minutes to read the newsletter when you receive it. We incorporated some historical background information into Rays of Light, and it should be an interesting and nostalgic look at the evolution of this important resource for Salem Quarter and the seniors living in our service area.
In the near future, you will receive a letter asking you to make a gift to the Friends Home at Woodstowns Annual Gift Campaign for 2001. The Development Committee and the Board of Managers are busy finalizing plans and priorities for this important undertaking. Please give our request serious consideration.
Historically, Annual Gift Campaigns raise unrestricted funds to offset operating expenses. The pressures of rising costs and aging facilities too often result in increased fees to those who depend on our services, and unrestricted funds are used to ease the pressure. Today more than ever, nonprofit organizations count on the financial generosity of their friends and supporters. Friends Home at Woodstown is no exception.
Included in the first issue of Rays of Light will be a courtesy reply envelope. Please consider making a gift when you receive the newsletter. If you do, we will not have to send you a formal letter asking for your gift. This will result in a win-win situation for all of us. You will not have to receive, open, and process another piece of mail. Friends Home will save the cost of personally writing to you and including another envelope. And best of all, more money will be available to keep our residents costs down.
Thank you for your continued interest, consideration, and support.
