FALL 2001
Mullica Hill MM First-day School Clean-up Crew
Dear Friends of Salem Quarterly Meeting:
On the 28th day of the 4th month in the year 2001, the Mullica Hill Friends Meeting Childrens First Day School had a lot of fun. We cleaned up the Maurice River cemetery. Seven adults and seven children came to clean up the cemetery.
We pulled weeds, raked and raked, picked up sticks and trash, and tried to match temporary grave markers that had been pulled out with headstones. We were able to match two of the markers. We put up flags and finally we had a picnic under a very old tree.
It was a warm and clear day. We learned about prickly pears. That was not so much fun because some of us got stuck with the prickles.
We made head stone rubbings and even found a headstone with the name George Fox. Our George Fox was not the George Fox though.
There was a lot of trash in the cemetery when we got there but when we were done it looked beautiful.
Thank you for letting us clean up at the cemetery. We would like to donate the $55.00 we raised at meeting and hope that you will use this toward a new gate or fence.
Your friends,
Clean-up Crew Extraordinary:
