Clerking and Being Clerked

Far from being boring or painfully contentious discussions of property or the details of running a program, Quaker business and committee meetings can—and should—give us as deep and satisfying spiritual opportunities as our First-day meetings for worship. This is the view of Arthur Larrabee, former clerk of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.

Salem Quarter invites you for an all-day workshop with Arthur on the work of clerking meetings for business and committee meetings. Invaluable for clerks and would-be clerks, the presentation will also examine the expectations and responsibilities of those who are being clerked as well.

The workshop will be held at Mickleton Monthly Meeting and the Little Red School House on Saturday, 21 September, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Cost of $30 includes simple lunch. There will be no child care. Registration is limited to Salem Quarter members and attenders through 1 August; after that time, it will be opened to others outside the Quarter. Registration deadline is 7 September.

To register, send your check to the Coordinator's office, PO Box 55, Woodstown, N.J. 08098. Questions? Call (856) 769-0066.
