SUMMER 2002To Friends of Salem Quarter,
At Quarterly Meeting on December 9, 2001, a concern arose about our ability to help our children attend Friends Schools if they so choose.
Currently we have an Education Fund that awards approximately $500 to each of 20 children each year. As tuitions start at $8,500, depending on school and grade level, this is really just a token amount of help.
Some Monthly Meetings have funds for education, and others do not. If your meeting has funds designated for education that are not being used, perhaps you would consider contributing to the Quarter fund. Even if your funds are being used, you might consider donating to the Quarter as well, since your children are all eligible to use Quarter funds.
Of course, individuals with a special interest in education should be aware that contributions to the Salem Quarter Education Fund are needed and welcome.
We need to increase our Education Fund, so that the income from this fund can help more of our children get the education of their choice. Many thanks for your consideration of this request.
