From Our Friends Home

Our next issue of Rays of Light, our “new” newsletter, will be mailed in early January. Many of you are not on our mailing list and you do not receive Rays of Light. So many exciting things are happening at Friends Home. Our mission is expanding to embrace more of our region’s older adults. Independent living cottages and apartments give people an opportunity to live in their own “home,” and at the same time enjoy a higher level of peace knowing that someone else takes care of the day to day property management issues and that someone is right there for them in an emergency.

The addition of assisted living and the expansion of our skilled nursing facilities will allow us to provide state of the art care for our residents who need a little more help at this point in their lives. We want you to know about our joys and triumphs, the legacy we inherited and the new legacy we are striving to create. Please take a minute and call the Office of Institutional Advancement at 856-823-0229 and give us your name and address so we can be sure you are on our mailing list.

Annual Gift Campaign letters will be in the mail in November. On behalf of all of us, thank you for your past gifts. We are most grateful for your responses to our fundraising efforts. Your gifts affirm our mission and encourage us to embrace the challenges we face as we work to ensure the long-term viability of Friends Home. In today’s healthcare and long-term care environment, organizations like Friends Home struggle to carry on the vision of their founders—to serve the men and women who call Friends Home their home. When you receive your Annual Gift Campaign letter, please consider making a gift to help us carry on the work Friends Home has done so well for 105 years. Most of all, consider making a gift to help us keep our residents’ fees at affordable levels. Annual gifts help offset operational expenses in some fashion. Remember, all gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

First Annual Golf Outing

As we suspected, Tiger Woods and Karrie Webb didn’t join us, but 119 golfers signed up! As many of you may know, our October 11th date was a wonderfully rainy and wet one for Salem County. Not so wonderful for our golf outing, however. As it worked out, 94 golfers enjoyed a beautiful, sunny afternoon of golf on Friday, October 18, 2002. 120 guests enjoyed the Awards Dinner at the end of the day, including hors d’oeuvres and dessert donated by Friends Home Dining Services Department. Pat Jones, Irene Woodward and executive chef Josh Miller outdid themselves! Thank you to everyone who supported this outstanding effort.

Be part of Friends Home at Woodstown’s Second Annual Golf Outing Friday, October 10, 2003. The distinctive course layout of Town & Country Golf Links on Route 40 in Woodstown is challenging and fun. They have 18 holes that give golfers a chance to experience scenic splendor and challenging obstacles even Tiger and Karrie would relish.

From the Friends Home family to your family, we extend our very best wishes that you may know and enjoy happiness this Christmas and in the New Year.
