Winter Gives Birth to Spring

illustration by Judy ScottBuried in the deep
Where it unconditionally responds to what it is given.
It is not offended by the cold nor the dark of its womb
Because within it is a passion for the possible.
It freely absorbs what sustains it
Until it breaks open
Offering its own celebration of life.
It is integrity that takes root
And courage that pushes through the soil
Discovering its place above ground
Always reaching for the sun.
In awesome sensitivity, it accepts nourishment and delights in truth.
Humbly trusting, the seed gives glory in honoring itself.
When ripe, it becomes its fruit.
Abundant and overflowing
It gives as it has been given
As it tenderly holds within it
The blessing of life
New seeds and new possibility

My invitation ...

Know that even in the cold and dark of the womb, there is blessed activity. Conceive of this passion for the possible. Allow yourself to freely absorb what sustains you ... until you break open in a celebration of life. Notice that you are not content in remaining the same. Sink your roots deeper and let courage carry you to even greater awareness and truth. Honor yourself ... and give as you receive.
