FALL 20036 June 2003
alem Quarter Worship & Ministry Committee met on 6 June 2003 at Mullica Hill Meetinghouse, convening in worship at about 8:00 pm. Friends came from Mickleton, Mullica Hill, Woodbury, and Woodstown Meetings, plus the Quarter Coordinator.
This evening, we did not manage to center on a particular focus. There was consideration of efforts current and pending in our monthly meetings regarding peace and military counseling; there was worshipful concern for and celebration of individuals; and there was discussion of the benefits and frictions of pairing faith and works or religion and politics.
The Retreat Planning Committee has not met recently, due largely to unanticipated demands on the time of the convener. These demands seem likely to continue, so we plan to ask for help at June Quarterly Meeting, particularly in three matters:
- finding a person to provide care for toddlers during the retreat (help has already been engaged to develop a program for the older children)
- sending written invitations to young people in the Quarter
- in general, publicizing the retreat and encouraging individuals to register
A next meeting of the planning committee has not been scheduled. If people are interested at June Quarterly Meeting, we might gather at rise of meeting to set a date.
We concluded in worship at about 10:00 pm. Worship and Ministry intends to meet again at 7:30 pm on 12 September 2003, the Friday evening before Quarterly Meeting. We welcome participation from all monthly meetings of Salem Quarter.
For the Committee,
