SPRING 2004By participants in the 2003 Salem Quarter Retreat
n the course of last Augusts Salem Quarter Retreat, the group of us prepared a set of queries about simplicity. We offer them to you for personal use and further development. Please do not consider them a finished work, but rather a basis for you to adapt to whatever will best serve you as an individual Friend and as a member of your various communities.
Are my decisions made with intentionality and discernment?
Will this action, attitude, or relationship help me serve the Spirit?
Does my style of life endanger the environment?
How might I live more responsibly in relation to the earth and human community?
In what ways do I contribute to the systemic abuse of the earth?
Do I allow the Spirit to lead in the dance of life and faith?
Am I free of attachments which hinder right relationship with God and other people?
Where do I store my treasures?
Am I direct, honest, and transparent in my relationships?
Do I practice simplicity in my entertainment?
How is my living reflective of purity of heart?
What obstructs or hampers a constant awareness of the presence of God?
Am I mindful of being aware of and attentive to those around me?
Am I honest and transparent in my speech and actions?
Do I periodically reevaluate my understanding of and commitment to simplicity?
