SUMMER 200610 March 2006
alem Quarter Worship & Ministry Committee met on March 10th, at the home of Bob and Gloria Horvay, convening in worship at 7:30 pm. Friends were present from Mickleton and Mullica Hill Monthly Meetings, as well as the Quarter Coordinator.
As we did at the December meeting, we spent the evening in worship sharing and discussion, this time exploring how we have personally experienced God. In a time of rising doubt and skepticism, we must be clear about what we know and how we know. We each have our relationship with the divine, and like all solid relationships, each is a long story, with quiet stretches and subtle incidents, and perhaps one or two shining moments. Telling those moments does not tell the whole story, of course. However, each of us on that Friday night had moments to speak of, with unique circumstances and familiar meanings. Sharing these moments helps us to know one another better as friends to each other and as friends in the community of believers.
Worship and Ministry intends to meet again at the Horvay residence on June 9th, the Friday evening before Quarterly Meeting. We welcome participation from all monthly meetings of Salem Quarter. I expect that we'll have a report from the Gifts Working Group, and discussion may dwell on the theme of the forthcoming Annual Sessions of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, "Worship: Always Coming Home."
For the Committee,
