FALL 2006The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) has long held the belief that we are the stewards of God's Creation. We believe that we must voice our concerns when our environment is threatened.
The government has proposed that millions of gallons of altered nerve gas (hydrolysate) be disposed of by dumping it into the Delaware River. This substance has been described as having properties similar to drain cleaner.
We are opposed to this action. We need to preserve the integrity of the Delaware River and the Delaware Bay. It is imperative that these bodies of water be protected as an area of clean water so that fish, birds, aquatic mammals and people thrive.
Approved at Meeting for Worship with a Concern for Business, 4/23/06.
