I Loved Tri-Quarter 2005

Carleton Cox Crispin
(with a little help from Mom)
Woodbury MM

Tri-Quarter was such a treat—with so many Quakers of all ages to meet!

This year Tracy had a sweet little baby squirrel for me to pet
And in the scavenger hunt there were lots of animals to get.

I loved holding and feeding sugar water to the monarch butterfly.
I wanted to set it free so it could fly high into the sky.

I made two good drum sticks and decorated my own drum.
Then we made a humongous circle when the drum lady said, "Come."

I loved using the giant blue drum to hit to the beat
And I got to play other instruments, which were really neat.

I loved making delicious s'mores at the big fire
We put on lots of wood so the flame went higher and higher!

I danced with many friends to the music of the band
And sometimes I helped the little kids by giving them a hand.

We were together—all part of the big loving Quaker community—
        baby Carmen,
            child Patience,
                teen Brendan,
                    young adult Tracy,
                        special needs Jeri,
                            old adults Daddy and Mommy,
                                and big boy me!

It was really fun sleeping all cozy with my family under a big quilt in the tent.
I just can't tell you how much this whole weekend meant!

I loved riding around the camp on my bike—
and walking with friends on a nature hike.

Building the stick shelter was great—
and I can't believe how much good food I ate!

I loved making a big city out of sand under a nice oak tree
As my friends and I listened to the violin our hearts felt so free.

I loved seeing the shiny new blue tractor each day
And looking up at the stars when I rode the wagon full of hay.

It was interesting to see how they are building a new dam for the lake
Next year when I ride the boat I will steady my canoe so it won't shake.

Meeting for worship outside made me feel God in my heart
I know all living things in the world are connected—we all are a part.

Making my beautiful tie-dye shirt and bird house was fun
And I was so sorry when our Tri-Quarter weekend was done.

Oh how I wish that Tri-Quarter weekend would stay!
I just can't wait to go back next year to Camp Ockanickon to play!
