WINTER 2006To provide a fertile learning environment, rich with the nutrients that help us cultivate the intellectual growth, creativity, scholarship and social conscience of each student, within a community of values rooted in the Quaker tradition that advocates mutual respect and nurtures the spirit as well as the mind.
Friends School Mullica Hill Mission
Friends School hosted its long-standing tradition, the Back to School Pot-Luck Dinner, on Tuesday evening, September 5, 2006. A drenching rainstorm forced it to be held in the gym, but it was a lively reunion of the community and an opportunity for students to meet their teachers for the coming year.
Friends School opened on September 7, 2006, with many returning and new faces to the community. The school welcomed several new teachers, including a supplemental math teacher, Mark Beiferman-Haines, who attends at Mickelton Monthly Meeting.
In September the middle school students will continue the tradition of participating in three-day environmental education programs at Camp Onas (6th grade), Poconos Environmental Education Center (7th grade), and Wallops Island Marine Biology Science Center (8th grade).
On October 21st from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm the community will gather for the Annual Fall Arts Festival.
Quakers are invited to worship every Thursday morning with FSMH students at Mullica Hill Meetinghouse. Lower school meets at 9:00 am, and middle school meets at 10:30 am.
