WINTER 200610 September 2006
On Friday, August 4, at the tail end of the midsummer heat wave, more than 35 Friends from Seaville, Woodbury, Woodstown, and Mickleton Monthly Meetings met for the first Salem Quarter "Friends ~ Young and Young at Heart" Gathering. The gathering was held at the Woodstown Friends meetinghouse.
The evening was a memorable mix of food, games, a peace vigil (or perhaps more of a chant) and service. Attenders harvested and donated their home-grown produce, which was boxed and delivered to Abby's Alley, a half-way home for challenged adults in Woodstown.
The next gathering will be held on Friday November 3, 2006, at the Salem meetinghouse, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, when we will be making biscuits for the dog pound. We look forward to seeing Salem Quarter Friends, especially those between 5 and 18 years old. A coordination meeting will be held on Friday October 6, 2006. Middle School and High School students who are interested in assisting with the coordination the service project are invited to the coordination meeting.
Save these dates for future gatherings: February 9, 2007, 6:00 to 9:00 pm) and April 13, 2007, 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
