WINTER 200611 Third-month 2007
In early February Friends from Greenwich, Woodstown and Mickelton gathered at Mickelton Meeting to make Valentines for Friends Village residents. In a few hours, over 25 Valentines were created from paper, ribbon, pipe-cleaners, stickers, and glue. Ann Gudenczauskas, the Activities Director at Friends Village, distributed the Valentines to residents in the Evergreens Unit of Assisted Living. She noted, "Everybody just loved them, and there was a lot of trading back and forth and the residents showed them off. Thank you so much for thinking of us" at Friends Village.
This activity was conducted with a generous donation from Salem Meeting member Richard Rieger, whose donation was used to help offset the cost of mailing flyers and art project materials. Our young Friends have sent a Valentine thank you to Richard. Thank you also to Mickelton Meeting for letting use the First Day School room and annex for our projects.
Next Events:
Friday April 13, 2007, Make Soup for the Ann's Abbey of Woodstown. Ann's Abby is a group home for developmentally disabled adults in Woodstown. Meet at Woodstown Meetinghouse 6-9 PM. We are hoping to have a lot of fun chopping and stirring. Expect some games and songs honoring the theme of soup!
If anyone has a soup recipe with lots of ingredients to share, please send it to us.
The 2007-8 schedule is being planned. We expect the next program in late summer 2007. We hope to schedule an event at Seaville Monthly Meeting. So far the plan is for a sleepover on a Saturday night followed by meeting for worship on the beach. We are planning for late August or early September and will keep you informed of the specifics as they are formed.
