WINTER 20077 ix 2007
Salem Quarter Worship & Ministry Committee met on 7 September in the backyard of Gloria and Bob Horvay, convening in worship at 7:45 pm. Individuals were present from Mickleton, Mullica Hill, and Woodbury Monthly Meetings, as well as the quarter coordinator and a visitor from Chestnut Hill Monthly Meeting.
We shared our evening in worship and grounded discussion, starting with prayerful attention to our Quarter and constituent Monthly Meetings, which flowed into consideration of physical forms of prayer and the need for our communion with the divine to be expressed as well as experienced.
Between our private, individual connections with God and our communal worship, there is also the deliberate, focused worship of a few, bonded in shared intent. We shared writings and experiences of such prayer partners, and came to a sense that we should develop this further. Thus, we plan to prepare an article for Salem Quarter News and to focus our next meeting on the topic of prayer partners.
We concluded in worship and fellowship at 9:45 pm. Worship and Ministry intends to meet again on 7 December 2007, the Friday evening before quarterly meeting, and we welcome participation from all monthly meetings of Salem Quarter.
For the Committee,
