photo by Tom EtheringtonThe Philadelphia Yearly Meeting library has an extensive collection of 23,000 current and out-of-print books, periodicals, and audiovisual items, for children and adults, dealing mainly with Quaker theology, history, social concerns and biography. These materials are used for spiritual inspiration, research by monthly meeting groups, teachers and students, PYM staff and individual borrowers.
Major sections of the main collection are religion and psychology, Bible study, spiritual life, family life, large-print books, Native Americans, African Americans, womens issues, simple living, civil rights and books dealing with and promoting interests of school-age children and their parents.
Patrons are welcome to visit the library in person or to borrow by mail. The basic circulation period is one month, renewable by mail, phone, or e-mail. They will mail materials anywhere in the United States.

The services are free to PYM members and staff and PYM schools.
Prepared book lists are available in hard copy, on the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting web page, or on floppy disk. Boxes of books may be requested for extended periods to cover course terms or other events in monthly meeting schools or meetings.
