Seed, Cutting, and Plant Swap at Quarterly Meeting

Reasons to Eat Local Food
  • Eating local supports the local economy.
  • Locally grown produce is fresher.
  • Local food just tastes better
  • Eating local is better for air quality and pollution than eating organic.
  • Local food keeps us in touch with the seasons and one another.
  • Local food translates to more variety.
  • Supporting local providers supports responsible land development.
We can think globally and act locally.

Got some seeds left over from spring planting? Have you divided your iris bulbs this year and have more than you need? Do you have extra slips or cuttings from garden or house plants? Forsythia or rose of Sharon stems ready to be pushed into the ground and rooted? And what in the world are you going to do with all those baby spider plants?

Salem Quarter will hold a seed and plant swap during the June quarterly meeting session on Sunday, 6/14. With our program’s focus on agriculture and how it’s enlivened Seaville MM, it’s a good time to encourage Friends to share our own botanic efforts. Maybe next year your tulips will be decorating somebody else’s garden, while you have a chance to try that new variety of tomato.

Bring your leftovers along—labelled, please!—and we’ll provide a place to put them out for others who can use them or want to experiment with something they haven’t done before.
