These are only some of the things that will happen in Salem Quarter and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting over the coming few months. The dates and details for others aren't set yet. Look for the Quarterly Meeting Calendar, sent every month to your Meeting's Steering Committee members, for listings of other events you may want to participate in. Or check Salem Quarter's Web site, www.pym.org/salem-qm/, where announcements are posted within a few days of the Coordinator's receiving them.
Sat, 2 September- Lower Alloways Creek gathering. After 6:00 PM potluck dinner at the Lower Alloways Creek meetinghouse, there will be discussion of possible future uses of the meetinghouse under the care of the Quarters Ad Hoc Committee, followed by meeting for worship. Fri, 8 September- Salem Quarter Worship & Ministry. The Worship & Ministry Committee will gather at the home of Bob and Gloria Horvay, Mullica Hill, at 7:30 PM. All members of monthly meeting Worship & Ministry or Ministry & Counsel Committees are welcome. For information, contact the Salem Quarter Coordinator at (856)769-0066.
Sun, 10 SeptemberSalem Quarterly Meeting. Salem Quarter will gather at 2:30 PM at Greenwich Lower Meetinghouse for 3:00 meeting for business, followed by picnic dinner at 5:00 (beverages provided). In the program, at 6:00, Drew Smith, new Head of Friends School, Mullica Hill, will explore opportunities for cooperation between the school and Salem Quarter. Candlelight worship follows at 7:00. Sun, 24 September- Amnesty International. The Salem County chapter of Amnesty International meets in the Social Room of Woodstown MM at 7:00 PM on the last Sunday of each month. For information, call the Coordinator at (856)769-0066.
FriSun, 29 Sep1 Oct- Tri-Quarterly Gathering. Theme for this years gathering of Salem, Haddonfield, and Burlington Quarters at Camp Ockanickon, Medford Lakes, N.J., is It Takes a Village To Raise a Friend. Workshops will be presented by George Crispin, Harriet Heath, Judy Owens, Sue Heath, and Pat Fowler. Further information from George Crispin, Tri-Quarterly clerk.
FriSun, 29 Sep1 Oct- Friends Institute Gathering. Michael Van Hoy, late of the PYM Workcamp Program, will emcee Young Adult Friends of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (ages 1840) at the Burlington Meeting House.
