he Steering Committee of Salem Quarterly Meeting is the group that runs the Coordinator program. Ideally, its made up of two representatives from each monthly meeting, plus the Quarter clerk and treasurer. In fact, some meetings have named only one representative, and sometimes a meeting has difficulty finding a member to serve.
The Steering Committee has another function as well. As reaffirmed at Decembers Quarterly Meeting, its authorized to act for Salem Quarter in between our four-times-a-year sessions. Needless to say, the agenda for its meetings are usually pretty full.
In January there were a number of changes in the Steering Committee. Dianne and Barry Sloane of Mickleton stepped down (though Dianne is still an ex-officio member). So did Peggy Warner of Mullica Hill. Mickletons Gloria Horvay, the only remaining member who served when I first became Coordinator six years ago, stepped down as clerk, though shes still on the committee.
At the same time, new members came on. Sandy Peth becomes one of Mullica Hills two representatives, and Bob Horvay will serve with Gloria from Mickleton. Ameline Pappas joins the committees new clerk, Frank Lenik, from Woodstown. A heartfelt welcome! I look forward to working with them.

Mickleton has agreed to host a one-day workshop, Spiritual Eldering, with Margery Larrabee on Saturday, 12 April; see the article for details and a registration form. Mullica Hills annual weekend retreat will be held in mid-March at the Burlington Meeting House.
Salem has continued the tradition of dessert and discussion evenings, sponsored by its Worship & Ministry Committee. See the Quarter Calendar for details, and all are welcome. Seaville and Atlantic City Area MMs have joined to offer Quakerism 101 this spring; youll find the dates for that in the Calendar as well.
The date hasnt been set yet for Woodburys annual Earth Day celebration, but planning is under way. And Woodstown joins with other religious bodies every Monday, 6:30-7:30 pm, in a prayer vigil for peace.
Friends should be reminded that PYM has cancelled its Residential Yearly Meeting in Chambersburg, Pa., this summer. Instead therell be Annual Sessions at Arch Street, ThursdaySunday, 2730 March. I hope to see at least some of you there.
Our own Quarterly Session will be held at Woodstown MM on Sunday, 9 March. The program will be presented by Tommy Trantino and Priscilla Adams, who will talk about a Haddonfield MM project, Beyond Prison Walls: Friends Transition Support Services. I heard them at Salem MM last fall, and was moved deeply by both the need to help persons on their release from prison and the Spirit-led dedication Tommy and Priscilla have given to the project.
The Friends School Fine & Performing Arts program will also be joining us for a musical interlude. Come gather at Woodstown with us for a day of mental, physical, and spiritual renewal.
