These are only some of the things that will happen in Salem Quarter and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting over the coming few months. The dates and details for others aren't set yet. Look for the Quarterly Meeting Calendar, sent every month to your Meeting's Steering Committee members, for listings of other events.


Sun, 26 August
Woodstown Peace Center organization. Woodstown MM will be reorganizing space in the meetinghouse library for the establishment of its Peace Center (see article). The meeting would appreciate both financial aid and volunteer help with moving books and rearranging office furniture. Questions, contact Linda Jeffrey at lindaj2@att global.net.

Fri, 7 September
Salem Quarter Worship & Ministry. The Worship & Ministry Committee will meet at the home of Bob and Gloria Horvay, Mullica Hill, at 7:30 PM. For information, contact the Salem Quarter Coordinator at (856)769-0066.

Salem Quarterly Meeting, Greenwich Lower Meetinghouse. Tricia McManus of Friends Institute, featured speaker. Gathering begins at 2:30 pm, with meeting for business at 3:00, brown-bag dinner at 5:00 (beverages and dessert provided by Greenwich MM), presentation at 6:00, and candlelight worship at 7:00. Sun, 16 September
Seaville MM picnic. Seaville MM will hold its annual picnic at the rise of worship. When the picnic ends, Friends will regather for meeting for worship for business. Further information from the meeting, (609)624-1165.

Fri, 20 September
Seaville drumming circle. Seaville MM holds a dessert sharing and drumming circle in Friendship Hall the third Friday of every month, starting at 7:00 pm. Bring your own drum, or spare percussion instruments are available to borrow. For further information, call the meeting at (609)566-4507.

Fri-Sun, 28-30 September
Tri-Quarterly Gathering. The three New Jersey Quarters (Burlington, Haddonfield, and Salem) gather in the rustic setting of Camp Ockanickon in Medford Lakes, N.J., for a weekend of workshops, relaxation, and worship (see article). Workshops are aimed at children, teens, young adults, adults, and intergenerational groups. Swimming and canoeing will be available. Fliers are available at your meeting, or may be obtained by calling the Salem Quarter Coordinator at (856)769-0066.

Sat, 29 September
Ministry, Eldering, and Worship. The Gathering for Ministry, Eldering, and Worship will meet at Schuylkill MM from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Information or directions from Louise Mullen, (610)286-9352, or Wendy Wells, (215)843-1860.

Sun, 30 September
Amnesty International. Woodstown MM hosts the Salem County chapter of Amnesty International the last Sunday of each month at 7:00 pm at the home of Karen and Bob Huber. For directions, contact the Hubers at rwhuber@gateway.net.

Sat, 20 October
Friends School Fall Arts Festival. Friends School, Mullica Hill, will hold its third annual juried Fall Arts Festival produced by the Parents’ Association from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be children’s art and activities, food, and musical performances; admission is free. Information, call (856)478-2908. Sat, 3 November
Care in the Meeting Community. Full-day gathering at Haddonfield MM is aimed at Overseers and others with a concern for pastoral care in the monthly meetings of Burlington, Haddonfield, and Salem Quarters. Judy Owens and Mickey Edgerton will participate in a plenary panel, followed by workshops and worship sharing around “balancing compassion, responsibility, and resources.” The gathering will start at 9:00 am, and child care will be provided. Suggested donation, $10 per adult, children free. Registration forms will be distributed to the monthly meetings, or call the Coordinator at (856)769-0066.
