t a Regional Staff gathering this spring, I listened to my co-workers from other quarters speak of how difficult it was to find people to runor even participate intheir programs. When it was my turn, Ill admit, I took quite a bit of pride in telling them how active Salem Quarter has been. Maybe this is a good time to tell you: Im darned proud to be working with a group like you!
Not that we dont have our problems of overwork and overscheduling. I noticed that fewer Salem Quarter members than ever before showed up for the most satisfying, spiritually deep PYM Annual Sessions Ive ever experienced. Only 16 of us signed the Quarter book, and there were two others I saw who came for one evening session. This is a problem throughout PYM, of course; but for our own sakes, I hope we can examine our lives and find less harried, more rewarding uses of our time.
Not that the monthly meetings have been idle. From Woodburys interfaith Earth Day celebration to Mickletons hosting the Friends General Conference Executive Committeewith help from Woodbury, and pot pie dinners donated by Salem; from Mullica Hills annual meeting retreat to Woodstowns evening to examine how we might use Rachel Davis DuBois Conversation Groups; from Salems Pot Pie Dinner to the Greenwich art show; and to Seavilles monthly meeting garage sale, theres been a lot of activity of all sorts in Salem Quarter.
ere gearing up for a full summer and fall, too. The Quarters first Coordinator, Michael Wajda, and his wife, Alison Levie, will facilitate our Quarter RetreatSpeak to Us of Leavenat the Burlington Meeting House Friday to Sunday, 2325 August. See the article for details and registration form. Were also fortunate enough to have Arthur Larrabee, former clerk of PYM, leading a day-long workshop on Quaker business at Mickleton on Saturday, 21 September. Details of the workshop, first proposed by the Quarter Nominating Committee, are in another article. Tri-Quarterly Gathering is a little later this year than last. Youll find an article about that in this issue of Salem Quarter News. Please consider all three of these rewarding events, supported by Salem Quarter, in your plans.

A final word: The June Quarterly Meeting will be the first to be clerked by Michael Gibson, a dear Friend from Woodbury MM. Michaels articles and poetry have graced these pages, and he comes to the Quarter after being clerk of his own meeting. Please join me in Seaville to welcome and support him in his new role.
