The following minute was presented from Salem Monthly Meeting and read into the record.
The Millville Worship Group Oversight Committee is a subcommittee of Salem Monthly Meetings Overseers and Worship & Ministry committees. As such, the committee will report monthly to both of its parent committees. Monthly reports will be made to business meeting either directly by the Oversight Committee or on its behalf by Overseers or Worship & Ministry.
The committee shall consist of eight members who shall be appointed by the parent committees, but need not be member of those committees or even members of Salem Monthly Meeting. As it is hoped that the committee members will be committed, they may serve without limit. Should a vacancy occur, it should be filled by the parent committees.
The Oversight Committee may or may not be involved in the hands-on activity of the Worship Group. The hands-on duties of teaching and consulting will be assumed by a support committee who will answer to the Oversight Committee. This Support Committee may include qualified Friends within and outside the Meeting.
As Salems group of active Friends is small, we ask Salem Quarter for assistance by holding us in the Light. It would be helpful if there are Friends from the quarter who are willing to serve on the Oversight Committee or who offer to lead or teach adult First Day School. This assistance would be founded in a personal leading and approved by Salems parent committees.
As committee clerk, Tom Etherington (Mullica Hill) presented a written report from the Steering Committee. The report was accepted as presented.
Mike Ayars (Woodstown) reported on Friends Village. He outlined some of the activities of the Strategic Planning Committee and referenced the needs of the Board to have experienced, knowledgeable members as replacements when vacancies arise.
On behalf of the Committee of Caring, Julia Zinader expressed a need for representation from other meetings. This is especially necessary in view of Sondra Balls current medical condition. A Woodbury Friend offered thanks and a comment of appreciation for the dedicat7io n and personal sacrifice of the Care Committee members.
A report was offered by Phil Anthony, coordinator, from the Worship & Ministry Committee. It highlighted the last meeting and was accepted as presented.
Gary Holmes (Woodstown) reported that the Trustees have not met since last Quarterly Meeting, but will be meeting soon. A request has been made by the Salem County Historical Society to have the Lower Alloways Creek Meetinghouse open during the House Tour on 4/24/2010. The committee will meet to make plans and arrangements.
Dorothy Kramme (Woodstown), who recently returned to Friends School Mullica Hill Board, reported on the school. Enrollment is down, and they encourage all interested to consider them. She noted the music program from which Friends heard selections earlier. The new head of school is scheduled to begin in July.
The clerk asked for announcements regarding upcoming events and thanked Woodstown for their hospitality. Next quarterly meeting will be in Mickleton on 6/13/2010; Frank Lenik of Woodstown MM will be the speaker. Meeting was closed with worship.
